The purpose of these camps is to enable students to better understand human anatomy and physiology by engaging in a variety of unique, in-depth, hands-on experiments, labs, and assessments . . . and have fun doing it! There are no prerequisites for attending this camp.

Our Anatomy and Physiology Camps are appropriate for all 9th - 12th students but are especially geared toward students interested in careers such as medicine, physical therapy, physician's assistant, dentistry, nursing, biology, exercise science, sports medicine, chiropractic, athletic training, nutrition, forensics, etc

Our camps typically fill quickly with students from throughout the country. This is one of very few camps of its kind in the world.

The camp fee covers class / lab time, the anatomy and physiology camp manual and t-shirt, all lab materials, supplemental materials, etc. It also covers lodging and meals. Everything is covered - there are no additional costs.

This camp provides a learning environment that gives students a tremendous academic advantage, it痴 lots of fun, and it enables students to meet other students with similar interests.

The Anatomy & Physiology Camps Include: Camp Pictures

  • To aid the understanding the kidneys and entire urinary system, we値l do a ten parameter urinalysis on each student with variations.

  • We値l dissect a variety of cow and sheep organs (similar to human): eye, brain, kidney, pancreas, lung, heart, trachea, stomach, pregnant uterus, muscle, and bladder.

  • We'll determine each student's blood type using a process that helps students understand antigens, antibodies, agglutination, blood types, and the blood typing process.

  • We'll determine each student's hematocrit to help them understand the blood and blood cells. We'll also examine the buffy coat and blood cells stereoscopically and microscopically.

  • Students will eat ice cream for breakfast to produce a "glucose load challenge" to help them understand the pancreas, glucose absorption, diabetes, normal and abnormal glucose response curves, and the production and function of insulin.

  • Students will do metabolic assessments / body compositions to help them understand metabolic processes.

  • Using stereoscopes and microscopes, we値l look at the microscopic aspects of the human body.

  • We値l do interesting reflex experiments to help understand the nervous system.

  • We値l do vision experiments to better understand the eyes.

  • To better understand genetics and heredity, we値l do experiments using genetic traits.

  • Students will learn how to determine blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate to aid in understanding the cardiovascular system.

  • To help understand the respiratory system, we値l do pulmonary (lung) function tests on each student.

  • Students will learn to stitch "wounds" and give injections on our life-like tissue models

  • We'll discuss; what they need to know about high school academics and successfully handling college academics, getting into medical school (or the professional school they're interested in), what their options are in various medical professions, the school time required, and how to relate to their professors and peers.
